Most questions about FullySky have short answers, gathered here roughly in the order people run into them: first reading, then replying, then writing. Open any question to read the answer. If yours is not here, the contact page reaches us.

First visit

Is there anything to sign up for before I read?

Nothing at all. Every published piece is open to anyone, signed in or not. The only accounts on the site belong to invited writers and to the administrators who run it.

Does it work on a phone, or with JavaScript off?

Both. Pages are plain HTML and CSS, laid out for small screens as well as large ones, and they do not depend on JavaScript.

Where do the topic pages come from?

From tags. When writers tag a piece, it is gathered onto /explore/name/ together with pieces carrying the same tag from every other blog, newest first.

Keeping up with writers

I liked one writer. How do I see their next piece?

Subscribe to their RSS feed at /handle/feed.xml; the link is on their blog page. Paste it into any feed reader and new pieces will arrive there.

Can I follow everything at once?

Yes. The site-wide feed at /feed.xml lists new pieces from every writer.

Replying to a piece

What do I need to leave a comment?

A name and something to say. The form sits at the foot of each piece. You do not need an account, and the form has no email field.

I sent a comment and it is not showing. Did it get lost?

Almost certainly not. Every guest comment waits in a queue until a moderator has read and approved it, and only then does it appear. If a comment is never approved, it is removed from the queue after 30 days.

I want a comment of mine taken down.

Readers have no account to edit from, so write to us instead. On the contact page, pick My personal data and name the piece plus the name you signed the comment with.

Writing on FullySky

Can I start a blog here?

Only with an invitation; there is no open registration. To ask, use the contact page, pick Joining as a writer and describe what you write. Every request gets read, though not every request leads to an invitation.

What does a writer get?
  • A blog page with portrait, short bio and an optional website link
  • An introduction written by you
  • Named sections, cover images, tags, and a contents list on long pieces
  • An RSS feed of your own

More on the features page.

Who holds the rights to my pieces?

You. By publishing, you let the site host, show and distribute them, RSS included. Ask us to take down a single piece or your entire blog at any time.

May I point readers to my own site?

Please do. Your blog can carry a link to your website, and links within a piece are ordinary links. Citing your sources is encouraged.

When something is wrong

A piece or comment here breaks the rules.

Let us know through the contact page with the topic Flag a piece or comment. Paste the address of the page and tell us briefly what you saw. If it is your own work that was copied, choose Copyright and credit.

What does FullySky know about me?

Probably very little; the privacy policy lists all of it. To find out what we hold, or to have it erased, send a message with the topic My personal data.

Can I write to you some other way?

The contact form is the only route; there is no published email address or phone line. Messages arrive in the site’s own inbox, and if your message calls for an answer, it comes by email.
