Community guidelines

Last updated:

FullySky works because its pages stay clear: clear of spam, of hostility and of things that do not belong. These guidelines apply to everything published here, including pieces, writer profiles and comments.

In one breath

  • Publish your own work and credit everyone else’s.
  • Be honest about who you are and where your links lead.
  • Argue with ideas, never with people.
  • Leave other people’s private lives out of it.

Not allowed, ever

We remove the following as soon as we find it:

  • Anything illegal, or anything that helps someone break the law.
  • Malware, phishing, or pages built to trick readers into giving away details.
  • Deceptive or harmful links, including links that hide where they really go.
  • Harassment, hate speech and threats against anyone.
  • Publishing someone else’s private information, such as a home address, phone number or private messages.
  • Impersonating another person or an organisation.
  • Plagiarism and copyright infringement.
  • Any sexual content involving minors.

Your own work

Publish what you wrote, or what you have the right to publish. Short quotations are fine when they are marked and credited. Copying another writer’s article, whole or in large part, is not. If you translate or adapt something, say so and link to the original.

Good links make a piece more useful. Link to your sources, to your own website and to anything that helps a reader go further. Keep each link relevant to the text around it. A piece that exists only to carry links is not a piece, and moderators will treat it that way.

Comments

Comments should be on topic and civil. Add something: a question, a correction, an experience of your own. Spam, advertising, personal attacks and off-topic remarks are not published. Every guest comment is reviewed first, so a comment you cannot see is either still waiting or was not approved.

Names and profiles

Write under your real name or a pen name you use consistently. Your portrait, bio and website link should describe you. Commenters may use any name, as long as it does not pretend to be someone else.

Moderation

Moderators may remove pieces or comments that break these guidelines, and may close a blog that breaks them seriously or repeatedly. We aim to respond in proportion: an off-topic comment simply is not published, while a phishing link comes down straight away.

Reporting

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, open the contact page and choose Report a post or comment, or Copyright if your own work was copied. Include the link. Every report is read.
